Privacy Principles

How the beta should handle sensitive menstrual and reproductive health information.

Privacy-first from the beginning

Menstrual and reproductive health information can be sensitive. The beta should collect as little information as possible, explain why information is collected, and give users clear choices.

Initial beta approach

  • Keep the first site mostly static
  • Do not require accounts for basic resources
  • Do not save appointment preparation summaries in the browser prototype
  • Use clear consent text on forms
  • Avoid collecting unnecessary medical detail
  • Separate anonymous question collection from personal contact details where possible

Before public launch

Connect forms to a secure backend, add spam protection, decide retention periods, write a full privacy policy, and confirm how data can be deleted. If minors may use forms, add appropriate safeguarding and age-aware controls.

Future options

Future versions may include anonymous question mode, zero-retention AI question mode, downloadable-only appointment summaries, community nickname mode and clear user deletion controls.
