Pain is information

Pain that repeatedly interrupts daily life is worth paying attention to. It does not mean there is definitely a serious condition, but it does mean support may be needed.

Dismissal can delay help

Many people minimise symptoms because they are told period pain is normal. This can make it harder to seek care.

What to say

Try: “My pain is stopping me from doing normal activities. I would like help understanding what may be causing it and what my options are.”

Use examples

Explain missed school or work, cancelled plans, sleep disruption, vomiting, faintness, bowel or bladder symptoms, and pain outside period days.
