Laparoscopy
A laparoscopy is keyhole surgery using small cuts and a camera. It may be used to look inside the pelvis and sometimes to treat disease.
Excision and ablation
Excision generally means cutting out tissue. Ablation generally means destroying tissue on the surface. Users should ask what is planned, why, and what the risks and limitations are.
Multidisciplinary care
If bowel, bladder or other organs may be involved, more than one specialist team may be needed. Ask who will be involved before surgery.
Aftercare and reports
It is reasonable to ask what aftercare will be provided and whether you will receive an operation report or explanation of findings.
