Simple explanation

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is found outside the uterus. It can cause inflammation, pain and other symptoms.

Symptoms vary

Some people have severe symptoms and others have fewer symptoms. Symptoms may include painful periods, pelvic pain, pain with bowel or bladder symptoms, fatigue, pain with sex, or fertility difficulties.

It is not just “bad periods”

Severe pain that disrupts life should not be dismissed. Endometriosis is one possible reason for severe period-related pain, but only a healthcare professional can assess individual symptoms.

Education helps preparation

Learning the language and tracking symptoms can help people prepare for appointments and advocate for themselves.
